VII INTERNATIONAL FORUM “TRANSEURASIA 2008: EURASIAN TRANSIT – DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS” Astana, 24-25 September 2008
The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Organising Committee of the 7th International Forum ‘TransEurasia 2008’ invites you to participate in this event which will take place in Astana on 24-25 September 2008. The Republic of Kazakhstan has been developing and positions itself not only as one of the most significant energy powers in Eurasia, but also as a dynamically progressing democratic state that has been building advanced economy and modern financial and social security systems, and also as a full and effective member of the international goods and services market.
The unique geographical position of Kazakhstan – in the centre of Eurasia, on the border of Europe and Asia – provides the republic with a unique opportunity of creating efficient direct transit corridors between the Asian continent, the Asian-Pacific Region and Europe. Making Kazakhstan a biggest transit power in Eurasia is the centrepiece of the state transportation policy and one of the priorities of the Government’s economic programme.
The Republic of Kazakhstan has already proved as a leading state among CIS introducing system innovations into a range of industries. Kazakhstan’s approach to the development of transport infrastructure and corridors and the transportation policy also involves application of various advanced organisational methods and best practices for construction and operation of important infrastructure assets – for example, construction and operation of transportation facilities by state enterprises, project financing, foundation of international JVs, construction under the concession model, state-private partnership.
Concession-model construction and state-private partnerships are meant to lay the basis for quality enhancement and nonlinear growth in the development of transit transport infrastructure of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Ministry of Transport and Communications, on behalf of the Republic, is ready to offer potential investors, construction companies and operators of transportation facilities various projects in the area of road, railway, aviation and sea transport.
Attracting a big number of participants to create a modern reliable multimodal transit system of high capacity is the main topic of the 7th International Forum ‘TransEurasia 2008’. Delegates and guests will be presented:
competent strategic analysis of current and perspective situation in the area of land transit in Eurasia; review of initiatives and steps taken by the Republic of Kazakhstan and member-states of CIS, EurAsEc and SOC to enhance efficiency of the international transport flows running over their territories; a wide range of significant projects that will form the basis of Kazakhstan’s transport infrastructure for Eurasian transit – toll highways with support and maintenance facilities, airports, railway sections, trans-shipment terminals and logistics centres.
Traditionally, the Forum is attended by representatives of governments and heads of relevant ministries of CIS, European, Central Asian and Asian-Pacific countries, leading operators of railways and highways, sea ports and airports, airlines and shipping agencies.
We hope to see you among the delegates and guests of the ‘TransEurasia 2008’ Conference, and can assure you that participation in this significant international event, information that you will receive and business and personal contacts that you will establish during the Forum will provide you with new opportunities and contribute to further growth of profitability and efficiency of your business.
